From the moment you arrive you cannot help but be in awe of this incredible 5 star self-catering lodge. The Lodge Manager greets you with welcome drinks, and you gaze down the passage to the large open plan living area, not knowing what is waiting once you step through those large glass sliding doors. It is only once you step outside that you can really appreciate this hidden location – overlooking an infinity pool and gazing across the Crocodile River into Kruger National Park.

Buffalo Brooke is in the prime spot of Mjejane Game Reserve, which is the last extensive tract of pristine indigenous bush along the Crocodile River, forming the southern part of world-famous Kruger National Park.

This self-catering lodge boasts 10 kilometres of undisturbed Crocodile River frontage, and guests have been lucky enough to view The Big Five, which are found throughout this region.  Herds of buffalo and elephant frequent the riverine area and predators such as leopard, lion, hyena and often wild dog are seen here. Waterbuck and other antelope such as kudu, bushbuck and impala are common. Plain’s game such as zebra and giraffe come to the river to drink particularly in the dry months of the year.

Bird spotting is a favourite sport among guests, and they are never disappointed with the variety of species in the area.  Along the length of the property adjoining the Kruger Park, the Crocodile River passes through reed beds, rocky fast-flowing channels and deeper pools. It is home to a high density of hippos and crocodiles. Where the river flows alongside the floodplain, the spotting of game coming to the river to drink is easy

Buffalo Brooke is an eco-conscious retreat powered by the sun, with 90% of its energy supplied through solar power. The lodge is serviced daily from Monday to Saturday, with additional fees applicable on Sundays and public holidays. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property, as well as a dedicated on-site office area for those who need to work during their stay. Daily morning and afternoon game drives with a private ranger can be arranged at an additional cost, and blankets, hotboxes, flasks, mugs, and Tupperware are provided for these excursions. The reserve offers excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife spotting, while safe walking and mountain biking can be enjoyed within designated areas. Trips into the Kruger National Park can also be arranged.

The spacious patio overlooks a stunning infinity pool and features comfortable outdoor seating, pool loungers, and a built-in braai/barbecue area, creating the perfect setting for relaxation and outdoor entertaining. Inside, guests will find an open-plan lounge, dining, and bar area designed for comfort and socializing. The fully equipped bar includes a large refrigerator and ice machine, while the modern kitchen is fitted with all necessary appliances and accessories. Entertainment options include a large flat-screen TV with a full DStv package, a selection of board games, a pool/table tennis table, and a library.
